Starting with 01.01.2019, the minimum gross wage per economy guaranteed will be increased from Ron 1900 to Ron 2080, for employed personnel with 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week.
According to the legal provisions regarding the regime of foreigners in Romania, the following categories of Non-EU citizens must align their salaries at the level of the minimum gross wage, in order to access the Romanian labour market and obtain the work permit:
foreign citizens locally employed as permanent workers or posted workers;
posted foreign citizens as ICT workers within a mobility;
foreign citizens seconded from an EU /EAA country/ Swiss Confederation, to Romania;
foreign citizens that are appointed under the direction of a subsidiary, branch or branch in Romania of a company based abroad, on a mandate contract or other document with the same legal value.
Previously, foreign Non-EU citizens should have received a monthly salary at the level of the average salary per economy, in order to obtain the work permit and to prolong the right of residence on the territory of Romania.
By granting this facility, the Romanian Government will encourage Romanian employers to bring foreign staff to the Romanian labor market, given the facilitation of conditions imposed by the Immigration Office and reduction of local costs and fees.
The minimum gross basic salary will be increased from Ron 2080 to Ron 2350 per month, for employed / assigned personnel for positions that require university studies or minimum 1 year experience in domain, with 8 worked hours/day, 40 hours/week.
